EXPLORER PROGRAM


Start your firefighting journey early with Aetna’s Explorer Program!
This program is open to anyone from ages 14-18 and introduces them to

the basics of fire and emergency services through several nights of

engaging, hands-on training.


topics we cover include:

  • Ladder operations

  • Hose handling

  • Rescue tools

  • CPR

  • First Aid

  • Hazardous materials


The Explorer Program is part of a nationwide effort to introduce young people to the field of fire and EMS, as well as other varied career fields.

Explorers have the opportunity to explore hands-on career experiences, community service projects, and even scholarship opportunities. The program is great for building confidence, teamwork and friendships. It also looks great on a resume for college or the workforce!

Aetna’s Explorer Program meets the third Thursday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., typically at Station 7.

The total cost of the program is $75.
