The Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company now offers a live-in program. The program is an opportunity available to college students or other interested individuals. In exchange for being available for responses a set number of hours per week, attending training, and performing other tasks as needed, live-ins are provided with free housing. Currently our department rents a townhouse across the street from Station 9 for our live-ins. If you are interested in being an active participant in a busy fire and EMS department, this is the opportunity for you! Applications are accepted for the live-in program each year for the four positions.

Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Company will be accepting applications for the 2018-2019 Live In Program. This program is primarily targeted at college students attending school locally, who have existing firefighter and EMT skills, training and certifications. Since most students are already in the decision-making phase for living arrangements for the next school year, we will be reviewing possible residents, and selecting those who will participate in this program. It is the desire of Aetna to obtain the highest qualified individuals who will be capable of contributing to the Department’s mission.

The broad goal of the Live-in program will be to provide housing to members in exchange for a required number of shifts or hours of availability to staff apparatus. Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder will be responsible for the lease payments and utilities on a 4 bedroom townhouse at 28 Academy Street, directly across from station 9.

Anyone interested in participating in Aetna’s Live-in program must submit a resume to the “Live-in Committee” mailbox at Station 9 no later than close of business, Tuesday, October 31st. Included in the resume’ should be current status (if a current member) within Aetna - ride along/probationary/full member - along with a list of certifications, credentials and training. These should be supported with appropriate copies of documents. In addition to the biographical information, any additional information regarding special consideration for this program should be included. Interviews and selection of prospective applicants should be concluded within the first two weeks of November.
