Gene joined Aetna in the spring of 1977 after spending 12 years with the Avondale Fire Department in Pennsylvania where he was a firefighter & EMT. At Aetna he became an ambulance lieutenant in 1977 working with then Captain Karl Hitchen. In 1980 he was elected Ambulance Captain. During that period the "overnight" crews were instituted. Gene was elected director in 1990 and has continuously served since then. He is currently the station seven director as well as handling computer systems, phones, employee benefits and company insurance.
