Working Residential Fire

On 6/2/2015, Aetna along with mutual aid were dispatched to a residential fire (lightning strike) in the unit block of Marlin Drive in Brookside Park.  Engine 10-2 (acting Engine 7) was nearby and arrived on scene just over 2 minutes after dispatch to find a single-story single-family dwelling with smoke showing from the roof.  10-2 established its own water supply from a nearby hydrant and quickly placed a handline in service finding a well advanced attic fire.  Next arriving units deployed a second handline, searched, and ventilated the roof.  Units operated for an hour and a half, Chief 9-8 (Schall) had command, and the Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is handling the investigation.

Companies Responded: Aetna HH&L, Christiana Fire Company, Mill Creek Fire Company, Minquas Fire Company, NCCEMS, University of Delaware Emergency Care Unit (UD-1), DSFMO.
