Entrapment on I-95

On June 23rd at 2 AM, Aetna was dispatched for a MVC with injuries on I-95 south bound in the area of the toll plaza.  Ambulance A-7 arrived 2 minutes after dispatched and found a crash involving 2 cars and a tractor trailer.  Upon investigation A-7 found that the only person that was injured would require extrication.  A-7 upgraded the incident to entrapment, which added NCCEMS Paramedic 746, ALS 24, and Medic 6.  Ambulance A-8, Engine 9-5, Engine 7-4, and Rescue 8 made the response as well.  9-5 arrived and set up for extrication.  The vehicle was stabilized, and their Holmatro rescue tools were placed in service.  The passenger side door was then removed in order to make patient egress.  Extrication was completed at 02:16.  The Pt was then packaged and transported to Christiana ER by A-7 and ALS.  Chief 9-8 placed the incident under control at 02:21, and all Aetna units were clear by 02:32, with the scene being turned over to Delaware State Police. 

Units on Scene: A-7, 7-4, A-8, Rescue 8, 9-5, Traffic 9, ALS 24, and Paramedic 746.
