At 1131 hours this morning, Aetna along with mutual aid from Mill Creek Fire Company, and Cranston Heights Fire Company were dispatched to the unit block of Barnard Street in the Drummond North Development of Newark for a residential fire. While crews were still responding, the 911 Center advised of a burn patient and upgraded the incident to a "working alarm" adding a response from Christiana Fire Company, Hockessin Fire Company, Belvedere Fire Company, and New Castle County Paramedics. Crews arrived to find fire showing from the 2nd floor on the Charlie side and the fire was quickly brought under control. One patient was transported with Advanced Life Support to Christiana Hospital and the Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is handling the investigation and Chief Bowerson had Newark Command.
