On Wednesday, December 10, 2015 at 1856 hours the Aetna Hose, Hook & Ladder Company, along with mutual aid companies, were alerted to a residential fire in the unit block of Lincoln Drive in the College Park community. Engine 7-4, Engine 10-5, Ladder 9, and Assistant Chief Andrew Cavanaugh (98B) made the response. Upon arrival of Engine 7-4, a water supply was established and Captain Jeff Sands reported a two story middle-of-the-row with smoke showing from the rear. Initial reports from NPD indicated a fire on the second floor and all residents evacuated. Upon arrival of Chief Cavanaugh conditions were confirmed and command was established. The crew from 7-4 advanced a 1.75 inch line, along with the crew from Ladder 9, and made an aggressive attack on the fire. Simultaneously searches of the residence were made by Rescue Engine 12-6. Engine 10-5 and Engine 21-6 combined crews and assumed the RIT. Incoming mutual aid companies were given supporting assignments and the scene was placed under control by Command at 1931 hours. The scene is under investigation by the City of Newark Fire Marshal. Four adults were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross.  Story by Asst.
