At 1555 hours on May 30, 2016, Aetna along with New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched to the intersection of Ogletown Road and Library Avenue for a motor vehicle collision with rollover.  Units arrived to find a tanker trailer hauling approximately 4,000 gallons of milk on its side.  The driver of the vehicle had self-extricated prior to fire department arrival, was uninjured, and refused service.  Crews were then faced with the difficult task of mitigating both a fuel leak as well as leaking milk.  Fire Chief Drew Bowerson requested resources from the Belvedere Fire Company (HAZMAT 30), DNREC, DELDOT, and several large rotators to assist.  Under the guidance of DNREC, collapsible basins were used to capture leaking product.  Crews then drilled into the tank in order to pump the product into another tanker.  Once the product was offloaded the truck was righted by the tow companies and was removed from the scene.  Crews cleaned up hazardous fluids such as oil and then flushed the nearby drains.  The Newark Police Department is investigating then crash and units remained on scene for several hours.
