Structure Fire

posted Sep 19, 2013, 4:51 PM by Charles Mitchell
At 0024 hours on 9/15/13, Stations 7, 8, 9, and 10, Engine and Ladder 3, 6, and 12, Engine 2, Cecil County for Engine and Rescue, Station 30 for the RIT, B-15, and Medic 3 were dispatched to 851 Old Baltimore Pike for a working structure fire.  The Duty Officer 7 Captain 1 (Sands) arrived on scene and found a 2 story wood framed single family dwelling apparently abandoned and fully involved.  Old Baltimore Pike Command was established and units were advised that this would be a defensive, exterior attack.  Engine 3-6 arrived on scene and got a line in service while Ladder 12 laddered the building.  Engine 7-4 laid a supply line to 3-6 and advanced an additional 2 lines off 3-6.   Assistant Chief Guzzo (8-8B) arrived on scene and command was transferred, 7 Captain 1 (Sands) handled manpower and 10-8B (Fox) was safety.  The fire was knocked within 20 minutes and crews remained on scene for several hours for overhaul.

Thank you to the mutual aid units who responded and covered our district during the alarm.
