Small Fire on Main Street

On 12/20/2015, at 1428 hours, Aetna along with mutual aid from the Christiana Fire Company, and the Mill Creek Fire Company, were dispatched to 295 E. Main Street for a commercial structure fire.  Crews arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the chimney, a fire in the basement extended up the chimney.  Two supply lines were established which resulted in the closure of Main Street by Newark Police Department and Fire Police.  Two hand lines were stretched with one in operation and the fire was quickly extinguished preventing further damage to the building.  The Delaware State Fire Marshal's office is handling the investigation, there were no injuries, and Asst. Chief Sands had Newark Command.

Units Responded: 9-5, 7-4, Ladder 12, 12-6, 6-6, 21-6, B-7, Rescue 8, 8-2, and 9-8.
