Seven Year Old Calls 911 and Saves Mothers Life

posted Aug 5, 2012, 8:38 AM by Charles Mitchell
On Thursday July 26, 2012 at approximately 1:15 p.m. the Newark 911 Center received a 911 call from a 7 year old child.  The child reported that her mother was not acting right and needed help for a medical emergency.  The call was immediately transferred to the New Castle County Fireboard.  Newark Police, New Castle County Paramedics and Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder responded to the first block of Thompson Circle and found the mother unconscious.  The mother was transported to Christiana Hospital where she made a full recovery and was released.  As you will hear in the attached call, this 7 year old did an incredible job, which clearly saved her mothers life.

The Newark Police would like to stress the importance of teaching your children how to dial 911, to practice and memorize your address and phone number, and to also make them familiar with how to use a cell phone.  These steps were taken by the mother in this incident, which led to the positive outcome.
