Ogletown Townhouse Fire

22 November 2010 - At 0050 hrs. Aetna Hose Hook & Ladder Company, Christiana Fire Company and Millcreek were alerted to a multi-residential fire with entrapment in the 1200 block of Chelmsford Circle. NCC Police on scene confirmed a working fire and Cranston Heights and UD-1 were added to the dispatch. When firefighters arrived on scene they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the complex. The scene was placed under control in 30 minutes and took approximately 65 firefighters to control the fire. The fire resulted in one victim who was pronounced as the scene by New Castle County Paramedics. The fire was contained to the victim's apartment and a total of four apartments were left uninhabitable, displacing seven adults and one child, according to Aetna's P.I.O. John Farrell. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced families. One firefighter was treated at the scene by New Castle County Paramedics and released. The fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office.
