posted May 23, 2011, 7:52 AM by Charles Mitchell

On May 20th at 06:19 the stations were alerted for a MVC with injuries at the intersection of Otts Chapel Rd and Elkton Rd.  Ambulances A-8 and B-9, along with Engine 9-5 made the response.  B-9 was first to arrive at 06:27, followed shortly by A-8.  EMS crews found a collision involving a large utility truck and a pick up truck.  Crews determined that extrication would be required for the driver of the pick up, so B-9 advised Fire Board that there was a subject trapped.  This added Medic 6 to the response.  9-5 arrived and the crew stabilized the vehicle and placed their rescue tools in service.  The driver door was removed within 15 minutes.  The patient was then packaged and placed in B-9 for transport.  He was transported to CER by B-9 and Medic 6 as a trauma alert.  The driver of the utility truck was uninjured.  All remaining units cleared by 7 A.M. with the scene being turned over to Newark Police.

Units on scene: A-8, B-9, 9-5, NCC Medic 6, and Newark Police.
