Kitchen Fire

On October 9th at 18:38, Aetna, along with Christiana Fire Company (3-6-12) and Singerly Fire Company (Cecil County 3-13-14), was alerted for a house fire at 146 Coopers Drive.  Shortly after the dispatch Engines 7-4, 9-5, and 10-5 along with Ladder 9 all were responding.  10-5 was first to arrive at 18:47.  The crew quickly determined that there was an active fire in the kitchen, and they advised Fire Board of the same.  That then added Volunteer Hose Company (1-27) for the RIT, NCC Medic 3, and Delaware City (15) for an ambulance to the response.  7-4 arrived just behind 10-5 and their crew assisted with placing 2 1 3/4" hand lines in service.  At the same time 9-5 brought a 5" supply line to 10-5 from the hydrant.  Ladder 9 arrived and that crew laddered the structure.  Crews were able to quickly knock down the fire and contain it to the kitchen area.  The incident was placed under control by Chief 9-8 at 18:59.  Crews remained on scene for another hour in order to assist the Fire Marshal and perform overhaul.  All units were clear by 20:01. 

Units on scene: A-10, 7-4, 9-5, 10-5, Ladder 9, Aetna Fire Police, 12-6, and DSFM.
