Joint RIT Training

posted Oct 15, 2015, 6:52 AM by Jeffrey Sands, Assistant Chief 7-8B
On Wednesday 10/7/2015, Aetna along with the Christiana Fire Company performed a joint Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) training.  The training partnered with the University of Delaware who provided the old Rodney Residence Halls as the training ground.  Crews participated in a full-scale simulated search and rescue of a downed firefighter requiring them to follow a hose line in blacked out conditions, force several doors, cut rebar, utilize RIT air packs, and eventually effect the rescue.  Realistic training is crucial to better preparing our firefighters for real-world RIT situations.  The training was extremely successful and demonstrates the important relationship we have with our mutual aid companies.  We look forward to more joint training in the future!  Thanks to UD, UDEHS, and CFC for their assistance and participation!
