On January 23rd at 21:26 members had just completed weekly training when Aetna, along with Mill Creek Fire Company (2-21) and Hockessin Fire Company (19), were dispatched for a house fire on Newbrook Rd.  Engine 7-4 and Ladder 9 responded immediately soon followed by Engine 9-5, Engine 8-2, and Rescue 8.  Assistant Chief 8-8B and 7-4 arrived at 21:31 finding smoke showing from the roof on the D side of the structure.  This added Christiana Fire Company (3-6-12) for the RIT, Medic 7, and A-23 (Minquas) to the response.  7-4 pulled a 1 3/4" hand line to the front door as well as hand stretched a 5" supply line to the hydrant as Ladder 9 was arriving.  Crews entered the structure and went towards the D side in order to locate the fire.  The ladder crew began opening up the ceiling and exposed the fire in the attic above the bathroom.  The fire also had spread above the bedrooms on either side.  The fire was quickly extinguished, and as additional units arrived they assisted with checking for extension and overhaul.  8-8B placed the incident under control at 21:44.  Units remained on scene for 2 hours in order to assist the fire marshal and perform overhaul.  All units were clear the scene at 23:27.
