End of an Era

posted Nov 24, 2010, 10:20 AM by Charles Mitchell
On June 29, 2010, President George Robinson signed a contract with Pierce Manufacturing, Inc. to construct a new heavy-duty 100’ tractor-drawn aerial which will replace our 1987 Seagrave aerial currently in service. The autumn of 2010 also will see the last class of firefighters to ever train on our current ladder. The Seagrave has seen much action in the Aetna fire district, and has assisted many of our neighboring companies on working alarms as well. It is also one of the few unenclosed tillers still in use in the country. Ladder 9 is housed at Station 9 on Academy Street.
