Dear Community Member:

The Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Company [Newark Fire Department] is pleased to introduce our Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Community Outreach Program.  Each year, many thousands of people in the United States suffer sudden cardiac arrest.  Most of these people do not receive prompt and effective CPR until the arrival of emergency medical services.  Our goal is to train as many members of our community as possible in the skills of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation so as to increase the chances that a qualified bystander will be able to intervene in the event that someone in the greater Newark area needs CPR.

Aetna HH&L is offering training in CPR as well as use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).  During the first stage of this program, Aetna is approaching community organizations such as yours to offer these classes.  The fees, which cover the cost of the certification cards and training materials, are a fraction of what other venues in the area charge.  Aetna’s instructors are all field experienced Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).  Students who complete the three-hour class will be certified by the American Heart Association in CPR/AED for a two year period.  The link to the signup sheet on our website is provided below.  Thank you for your consideration in this life-changing program.
