posted Oct 25, 2012, 5:15 PM by Charles Mitchell
On October 18th at 03:44, Aetna was alerted for Ladder 9 and an Engine to assist Singerly Fire Company (Cecil County 3-13-14) on a working building fire.  Ladder 9 responded shortly after the dispatch.  While they were responding, Assistant Chief 13 arrived to find the 2 end units fully involved with fire spreading to the 3rd and 4th units of the row.  Ladder 9 was first to arrive, and they were soon followed by Engine 13.  By this time Engine 9-3 was now responding as well.  Ladder 9 was placed at the A/B corner and set up for defensive operations  When 9-3 arrived, the crew was initially assigned to the RIT.  Both crews from Aetna performed many tasks on the fire ground including extinguishment, throwing ground ladders, ventilation, and overhaul.  The fire eventually went to 3 alarms before being placed under control.  The crews from Aetna operated on the scene for over 2 hours before being released at 06:19.
