Full Time Firefighter/EMT Employment Opportunity

Description: This is Full-Time employment position in the Fire/EMS Service to fill an open position in our current Full-Time Staff.

Nature of Position: Employee will be responsible for staffing the company’s basic life support ambulances on a daily basis, providing emergency medical care and transportation. Staffing fire and rescue apparatus as needed. Employee must be able to perform the related duties for both firefighting and EMS. 

Responsibilities: Provide basic life support care and transport of the sick and injured. Provide fire and rescue tasks as needed. Complete related EMS, fire and rescue reports and documents associated with these tasks. Other duties may include but not limited to light preventive maintenance (fuel fills, oil check and fill, minor apparatus maintenance). Perform routine checks of fire/rescue equipment. Perform housekeeping duties. Assist with fire prevention, administrative functions and logistical support as needed. The company may add other responsibilities as the need arises. Employee must show initiative at promoting the team concept. Annual physical and random substance abuse examinations may be required. There will be a 30-day break in period for this position. 
Hours of Work: This is for a 24/72 schedule 7 days a week as a primary shift. Other shifts may be required as the need arises. The department if necessary may change schedules at any time. This schedule is not guaranteed.

Benefits: Medical benefits and a 403-B retirement plan are available.

Salary: $17.50 per hour to start with consideration for prior experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School graduate or GED equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver’s license with no DUI’s and less than 5 points
  • DE EVO License
  • Current Healthcare Provider CPR/AED Certification
  • Minimum of NR-EMT-B and DE-EMT-B
  • 2 years active fire and EMS experience
  • Pump Operator Certified
  • Vehicle Rescue Certified
  • Structural Firefighting Certified
  • Preferred National Board on Fire Service Professional Qualifications (The Pro Board) 
  • Firefighter I & II Certified
