Fire Prevention

The Aetna Hose, Hook, and Ladder Co. has consistently provided the Greater Newark Community with many fire prevention programs and events. These programs focus on informing the public about dangers of fire, proper prevention methods, escape plans, and risks that a homeowner or parent may be unaware of in their household. In addition, the company visits local schools and churches to reach out to the children of the community to teach them about the dangers of playing with fire.

In 2001 alone, the company provided the community with over 200 fire prevention programs where over 15,700 people were in attendance.

You can arrange tours of our stations as well through our fire prevention program. Your group will be led on a guided tour of one of our three stations where you will be able to look, touch, and sit in our trucks as well as learn a little bit about what we do for you in an emergency. If it is a young group, we even have gear for them to wear and a hose for them to pull.

Aetna also provides "Santa Runs" starting after Thanksgiving. We went through over 30 neighborhoods in 2001 providing kids with candy canes and a chance to see Santa, his elves and a fire engine. A list of developments and the dates we will be visiting will be posted when the season comes closer.
