James A. Duffy and Maria M. Duffy James A. Duffy 87, passed away June 19, 2008 at Christiana Hospital one week after his beloved wife of 59 years, Maria M. Duffy, 82, passed away at Christiana Hospital on June 12. Mr. Duffy was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 17, 1921, the son of the late James B. and Julia Peak Duffy. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Second World War and worked as a millwright at DuPont for 26 years. He was a member of Aetna Hose Hook and Ladder for 54 years and was also a member of St. Johns Holy Angels Church. His family and friends will remember his hard work and unique sense of humor. Mrs. Duffy was born in Elkton, MD on December 20, 1925, the daughter of the late John and Gertrude Molitor. For nearly 30 years, she was a clerk at Eckerd's Drug Store on New London Road. She was a member of St. John's/Holy Angels Parish. She will be remembered as a woman devoted to her family. They are survived by a son, James M. Duffy of Newark; 2 daughters, Maria Wood of Newark and Patricia Berkheiser-Mehaffie and her husband David of Thomas West Virginia; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. James is also survived by a brother, Joseph Duffy and 3 sisters, Julia Bellman, Catherine Lenoir and Rose Marie Murphy. He was preceded in death by his sister Theresa Cooke. Maria is also survived by 2 brothers, Paul and Joseph Molitor; 2 sisters, Dorothy Gerhardt and Gertrude Blackwelder. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George, John and Leo Molitor and her sister, Helen Molitor. A committal service will be held at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd., Bear, DE on June 26, 2008 at 1 pm. Kelley, age 84, of Millsboro, DE, and Simi Valley, CA, formerly of Newark, DE, died on Sunday, March 30, 2008, at his daughter's home in Simi Valley. Mr. Kelley was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 11, 1923, son of the late James Kelley and Sarah A. Hindes Kelley. A US Navy veteran of World War II, he bravely served his country during the Normandy Invasion and in the European Theater. He was a systems operator by profession and was employed with Delmarva Power until his retirement in the late 1970s. Active in his community, Mr. Kelley was a longtime and devoted member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Newark. He was also a Life Member of Aetna Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company in Newark, Moose Lodge #1959 in Simi Valley, and the Indian River Yacht Club in Millsboro. He also remained very involved in veterans organizations throughout his life, including J. Allison O'Daniel VFW Post #475 in Newark, where he was a Life Member and past post commander; American Legion Post #28 in Millsboro; and AMVETS Post #2. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy Theresa Truskey Kelley, in 2003; a son, Richard D. Kelley, in 2001; a brother, Richard Kelley; and 2 sisters, Gladys Kelley and Grace Kelley. He is survived by 2 children, James W. "Corky" Kelley and his wife, Patty, of Millsboro, DE; and Patricia "Pat" Sutton and her husband, Tom, of Simi Valley, CA; brother, Charles Kelley and his wife, Mary, of Millsboro, DE; 2 sisters, Rose Alexander and her husband, Robert, of Newark, DE; and Anna Reynolds and her husband, Harold, of Chesapeake City, MD; 4 grandchildren, James Kelley, Samantha Kelley, Clifford Sutton, and Colleen Antenelli; and 4 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 am, on Monday, April 7, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where friends may call after 10 am. Stafford Age 76, of Newark, DE passed away on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Christiana Hospital. Mr. Stafford was born on June 29, 1931 in Long Island, NY to the late Fred and Mildred Stafford. A veteran of the US Army, he served in the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War frotm 1948 - 1952. He was a Newark City Police Office for 20 years, retiring in 1981 as a Lieutenant. He then worked for the Cigna Corp. as Head of Security for 10 years before retiring in 1991. He was a member and elder of the Head of Christiana Church, a life member of the Aetna, Hose, Hook and Ladder Fire Company for 50 years and also member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the VFW Post 475, the Newark Historical Society and the Newark Senior Center. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ruth A. Stafford of Newark, DE; 2 sons, Lawrence E. Stafford of Wilmington, DE and Robert "Fred" Stafford of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; 1 daughter, Cynthia Hatfield of Cumberland Gap, TN and 5 granddaughters, Erin Hatfield, Caitlin Hatfield, Caroline Hatfield, Ashley Stafford and Melissa Stafford.
