EMS officers play an integral role in the upkeep and progressive nature of the EMS service offered by Aetna H., H., and L. Co. These members have proven themselves in field on the ambulance and ensure proper training, upkeep of equipment, and other administrative duties. The Deputy Chief of EMS is an elected position by the membership once having met specified requirements and the lieutenants are appointed.

Although the Deputy Chief of EMS has fire line authority, lieutenants do not. They do, however, hold weight on the fire ground during EMS operations such as triage areas, rehabilitation zones, and HazMat incidents. The Chain of Command for EMS is as follows:

Deputy Chief of EMS
(Reports directly to the Chief.)

Lieutenants
(Reports directly to the Deputy Chief of EMS. Receives reports from membership regarding ambulance operations.)
