EMS Apparatus

Apparatus call signs are assigned via a county-wide standardized system. The first number in the call sign is assigned by what station number that piece serves out of. The second number is assigned via the following classification:

  • Brush/Utility: 0
  • Engines: 1-5
  • Rescues: 6
  • Ladders: 7

In the case of specialty apparatus, call signs may include the type of apparatus preceding the station number. Example: Ladder 9, Squrt 7, Rescue 8, or Utility 9). Ambulances are assigned call sign by letters A, B, C, etc. and the station number it serves. For example, A9 is the first ambulance at Station 9, B9 is the second.
